Snooker Winners

At Queens Birthday weekend, Birkenhead RSA sent two teams to the RNZRSA National Snooker pairs competition held over two days at the Papakura RSA. The teams were Jimmy Watson and Glen Crowther, and Paul Smith and Tony Van Wijk. The competition was split into two groups of preliminary matches and after several difficult matches the two Birkenhead teams had both topped their groups and faced each other in the best of three frame final.

In the first frame Paul and Tony won by a huge margin, and seemed destined to win the title. But that was not to be the case. Jimmy and Glen stormed back to win the final two frames and with it the overall title for 2008. Birkenhead RSA is proud to have both the winners and runners up of the RNZRSA National Snooker Pairs competition and congratulates both pairs on a great effort.
