Obverse: An Uncrowned Effigy of King Edward VII.
Reverse: A kiwi with a surround of fern fronds.
Size: 37mm in diameter.
Ribbon: 38mm wide, the ribbon is khaki in colour with 4mm crimson edges.
Suspension: By an ornate swiveling bar.
This award was instituted in 1911 and superseded The New Zealand Volunteer Service Medal. It was awarded to officers and other ranks of the New Zealand Territorial Forces upon completion of twelve years’ service. It was replaced in 1931 by The New Zealand Efficiency Medal.
