THE ROYAL NEW ZEALAND NAVAL VOLUNTEER RESERVE LONG SERVICE AND GOOD CONDUCT MEDAL

Obverse: An Uncrowned Effigy of the Sovereign.

Reverse: A naval ship steaming through the water and the inscription “Diuturne Fidelis”.

Size: 36mm in diameter.

Ribbon: 32mm wide, the ribbon is blue having in the centre a 14mm stripe of green between 3mm stripes of crimson.

Suspension: By a plain straight suspender.

On 6th May, 1985, Queen Elizabeth II approved the creation of this new long service award for non-commissioned officers and ratings of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve who have completed fifteen years’ continuous and efficient service. The award was backdated to 1st December, 1977. Bars may be awarded upon completion of a further 10 years’ of service.

Prior to 1985, members of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve were awarded the Royal Naval and Royal Marines Volunteer Reserve Long Service and Good Conduct Medal.
